On Tuesday night the Earthfoods café in the Student Union played host to a very funny group of young Hebrews called the Late Night Players. The Players are a traveling sketch-comedy troupe with sharp wit and a flair for the ridiculous. Based in Boston, they travel the country, touring mostly college campuses and similar arenas.
Few people have a resume like John Pinette. He has appeared on television, in movies and was a leading lady in a hit Broadway production of Hairspray. Aside from that, he is one of the top stand-up comedians touring the country today. On Saturday, Nov. 10, Pinette is bringing his act to the Calvin Theater in Northampton at 8 p.
If an album title's purpose is to give the listener a better idea for the general feel of the disc, The Spill Canvas accomplished its goal. The band's latest release, "No Really, I'm Fine," speaks volumes about the lyricism of the 12-track CD off Sire Records.
Jerry Seinfeld finally plays a character other than himself in DreamWorks' animated film, "Bee Movie." The PG-rated toon is silly but simple and can't compare to other animated films, like "Ratatouille." The story isn't very original either and seems as if it's been done time and time again, but the movie's "Seinfeld-like" humor and comedy routine save the film from being completely forgettable.
