Junior pitcher Brandice Balschmiter was one inning away from her third perfect game of the season with 9-0 lead at Boston College Wednesday night. That's when she hit Carly McNar with a pitch, allowing the first Eagle of the game to reach base. Balschmiter held on for her fourth no-hitter of the season, defeating the Eagles by the same 9-0 score, extending her streak to 65 innings without allowing a run and 84 2/3 without allowing an earned run.

As a seven-team conference, the regular season winner of the ECAC men's lacrosse league earns the league's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Tournament. But unlike other Division I conferences, the ECAC has no season-ending conference tournament. According to UMass coach Greg Cannella, the possibility of adding a tournament has been a contentious issue among the league's coaches.
